D20J Adapter Installation

To be done in the shop before shipping:

1.                    If using LARGE HOLE RETAINER: press bearing into retainer and install snap ring

2.                    Push shaft thru bearing up to shoulder. (w large hole ret, 6 spl portion of shaft sticking out of small side of retainer)

3.                    Install studs into adapter casting

4.                    put Footmount over studs, foot portion pointing AWAY from the adapter plate.

5.                    Install seal into rear of Klune

6.                    Mount adapter and Footmount onto Klune. Secure with 2 washers, lock-washers and nuts ONLY, FINGER TIGHT. (This will need to come off again when mounted up to Tcase)

7.                    If using SMALL HOLE BRG RETAINER: Fit retainer into recess in rear of adp plate, small side to rear

8.                    Push shaft w bearing (and in the case of the large retainer, with the retainer) into the rear of the adapter-Klune assy. Finger thread on the nut onto the end of the shaft.

9.                    This sort of pre-assembly is how the Klune is shipped, so the customer can see this partial assy.

Customer Installation to Jeep Dana 20

1.                  Install bull gear onto shaft. (Engagement teeth facing to rear). Tighten on nut.

2.                  Remove adapter plate and Footmount form Klune

3.                  Mount adapter – Retainer – shaft – Gear to front of Dana 20. Use RTV sealant.

4.                  Install Footmount and adapter onto Klune. (Note: If you have not figured out the desired clocking of the Klune/Tcase combo, do so now. See KV installation instructions, clocking procedure covered there. You will want the Footmount installed so it comes out parallel to ground with Klune and Tcase clocked as desired, before you seal the unit up) Use sealant: Seal in rear of klune will keep Tcase oil separate from Klune oil, however there is no seal on the front of the Tcase. Sealant is necessary to keep oil in Tcase and off ground!

5.                  That should do the trick, If I thought of everything. Give me a shout, any further questions!
