![]() 2WD and "Divorced" Applications |

We have had a number of customers wanting to use the Klune underdrive in their 2WD pickup trucks. In many cases, to ease pulling a large boat up a boat ramp. Also to slow a truck down so it can keep pace with agricultural equipment, as in receiving bales from a combine. This can be done. We can supply the Klune-V Extreme Underdrive in a "Divorced" configuration. This means is does not bolt to a transmission or transfer case at either end. It has a Flange-style input and output to which a driveshaft flange is bolted. As can be seen in the photo, the unit is supported by a bracket front and rear. This bracket is coupled to a crossmember built to go between the frame rails. Usually it would be attached to this crossmember by rubber isolators. A short driveshaft (usually 12-18" long) is run from the transmission output to the input of the Underdrive. A driveshaft (up to 60" long) can be coupled to the rear output and run directly to the rear Axle or via a carrier bearing in 2WD applications. 4WD applications would couple via a driveshaft to a divorced transfer case. It is also possible to run the unit "Married" directly to a trans in front, with the flange output feeding a driveshaft. It is also possible to run the input with the flange from a driveshaft and couple directly to a transfer case |
