Stick Transmission Conversion Options

 

General Info: Stick Trans Conversions

NV4500 5 speed conversion

The NV4500 is our most popular stick overdrive conversion for GM Trucks. We have conversion systems available for older GM trucks right on up to late model trucks where is is desirable to convert from auto to stick

 

 

SM465, SM420 "Granny" 4 speeds

These are all available to fit GM standard bell housings. Adapters are available to most if not all popular transfer cases

Automatic Trans Conversion Options

 

General Info: Auto Trans conversions

 

T350 "BadBoy" 3 speed automatic

General purpose  auto trans for use where overdrive is not necessary and high reliability is needed.

 

T400 "BadBoy"  3 Speed Automatic

This is the stout one, for the high horsepower, high abuse Chevy big block applications where overdrive is not required.

 

700R4 "BadBoy" Automatic with Overdrive

This is the trans of choice or Overdrive Automatic conversions where the vehicle has no computer to control the trans, as in older vehicles or where the computer will not match the trans. 

 

4L60e "BadBoy" Versions

This computer controlled transmission is most practical as an upgrade where the stock trans was a GM 4L60e, however the demands being placed on the trans exceed factory transmissions reliability expectations. See "700R4 "BadBoy" for specifications. Aftermarket programmable computer available for this transmission.

 

4L80E Automatic with Overdrive

This is the true HD Overdrive Auto trans for GM Diesel and big block applications. Our "Bad Boy" version (with available external programmable computer control) corrects reliability issues found with factory versions.

Overdrive Conversion options

There are two basic ways to accomplish getting an overdrive into your GM truck: Converting to a trans with overdrive, or adding a gear splitter/overdrive unit. This subject is covered in detail in:

GM Gear Splitter Applications include:

Ranger Overdrive/Gearsplitter

Available for use with GM standard truck four speeds (incl SM 420, SM465). Available in underdrive or overdrive versions

 

 

GM O/D Transmission conversions include:

4L80E "Bad Boy" programmable automatic w/ overdrive

Transfer case Upgrade Options

 

(Ford) NP203

Fairly stout if it is already in there, but limited due to the chain front axle drive. If it is already in your truck, consider adding a Doubler

 

(Ford) NP205

This is the rugged one, all gear drive and pretty close to bulletproof. If the 1.96:1 ratio is not enough, consider teaming a 205 with a Klune-V Extreme Underdrive

 

(Ford) NP208

This case is acceptable for use in light and medium duty off road use. Extreme abuse should consider conversion to the NP205 or NP205+Klune-V

 

(Ford) Borg Warner

These cases vary from model to model, however will generally  acceptable for use in light and medium duty off road use in the size and weight vehicle they came in. Extreme abuse should consider conversion to the NP205 or NP205+Klune-V

 

Atlas II Transfer Case

This case is  is excellent for use in light and medium duty off road use in full size trucks. Heavy duty off road use in a full size Ford should opt for the 32 spline front output upgrade option.  Extreme abuse should consider conversion to the NP205 or NP205+Klune-V.

"Ultimate" Klune-V and Doubler gearing

This type of Ultimate gearing option will provide the greatest amount of available gearing options. see High Impact - Optimal Gearing Enchantment

Klune-V Extreme Underdrive

Available for all transfer case applications listed above

Doubler

If you already have a transmission with a NP203, this may be the high-value gearing upgrade. Uses the NP203 gear reduction section and couples this to any of the transfer cases listed above. 

Overview of some alternative configurations of Ultimate options:

A Klune-V Extreme Underdrive / NP205 system. There are a few different options within this that we could discuss and optimize for, however here are the high points: 4 different Tcase ranges to choose from means maximum gearing flexibility. This is a seriously stout system, can be assured of excellent reliability even with a built big block.

Klune/Atlas is a possibility. Not as strong as Klune 205, but plenty under most but the most extreme conditions. This is more expensive than Klune/205

Doubler/205 System - A bit less money than the Klune/205, also not quite as many gearing options. Nice and stout.

Doubler / Atlas: An excellent system, excellent gearing choices especially with a 4.3 Atlas. Also, like the Klune/Atlas, pricey, but maybe not quite as much depending on application.

Transfer case upgrades:

If you do not need the extreme gearing flexibility of one of the "Ultimate" systems, I would recommend and Atlas II. I would use the 32 spline front output option, due to the size of your rig.
